January Favourites 2015

by - 10:08

So, yet again I am stealing this idea off Natalie (http://nataliestoddart.blogspot.co.uk/) but I really wanted to write down all my favourite things from this month so that this time next year I can see the products/music/people that got me through the month.

January has been a busy month for me but I'll try as hard as I can to remember everything I've loved!

Beauty / Skincare :

As far as makeup goes I tend to stay within my comfort zone and never try new makeup (I'm a wimp) however there have been a few new additions to my daily routine.

Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick - Shade 01

I have temporarily lost this lipstick (oh, the irony) but it is now my go to for lipstick. Over the years I've discovered that not many lipsticks suit me but if theres one colour I can kind of pull off it's dark red (even though I can't pull it off, I just like to tell myself that). I feel like this is just a really classic colour and goes well with anything!

Me, Gemma and Lizzie before we went to my birthday meal and although the photo is shocking I am, in fact, wearing the lipstick

Music :

I've discovered quite a few new bands this month (not necessarily new to the music world, just new to me) but one album in particular stood out to me after my friend Melissa played me this bands new single and I fell in love.

The Wombats - A Guide to Love, Loss and Desperation

After being played 'Greek Tragedy' at college one day I came straight home and bought loads of music by The Wombats. I can't get enough. I love a good ballad and a good sad song but this feel good in every sense of the word. I love listening to this when I'm getting ready particularly because it makes me feel so energetic.

Top Five Songs:

1. Kill the Director
2. Let's Dance to Joy Division
3. Moving to New York
4. Here Comes the Anxiety
5. Party In a Forest (Where's Laura?)

Other song that I've loved:

Anti D - The Wombats
Our Perfect Disease - The Wombats
Elastic Heart - Sia
42 - Coldplay
New Romantics - Taylor Swift

TV Show :

Thanks to Natalie there's been one particular programme that I am now hooked on.

Hollyoaks

Nat got me into this a few weeks ago and I managed to catch up on about 4 weeks in the space of about 4 days and now 6:30 is the highlight of my day because I get to sit down and watch it. It's so gripping and I have already found myself attached to certain characters (Dodger...) and I get upset when something bad happens to them....is that sad? I just find it much more relatable than other soaps because it's aimed for a younger audience.

I've also been enjoying Glee a lot after I found out it was on Amazon Instant Video!

Photo:

I have two favourite photos from January.

One of which is this. This is me and Natalie when I went to hers to celebrate New Year. It was honestly the most I've laughed in a long long time (I think I even cried at one point, I was laughing so much) and it had been months since we'd seen each other). We even had a little screaming reunion on her doorstep and now I think her mum thinks I'm crazy...we ate pizza, watched films, opened presents and took selfies. It was amazing and got my year off to a great start! I chose this photo from all of the others because I think we both just look really happy (even if I do look like I have makeup all around my eyes..)

The other photo is this one which is something my friend Ruth posted on my birthday (before I knew I would be seeing her later that evening). It really made me giggle and was a lovely addition to the collages full of ugly photos of me that people decided to make! I forgot half the photos even existed but they include our trips to the theatre, days at college, summer days out and ugly bus selfies (for me anyway). The top left is my favourite because I am literally laughing hysterically in that photo, Ruth is one of the few people that can get me to laugh till I cry but after 9 years of friendship she still manages to do it!

What's exciting about next month?

Well, Natalie comes home on the 30th January (so today) and so the week after we're going out since I'm now Eighteen! I can't wait, it'll be my first night out and I couldn't wish for a better person to spend it with to be honest! We're also meeting up at some point to eat loads of food because you know, thats normal...
