Hello you lovely lot!

I'm so sorry this review is so close to another review, the website stopped working for me and I had already written this! Im shattered and need sleep and I didn't want to give up on Blogmas!

A Head Full Of Dreams

This does the classic Coldplay thing where it sort of fades in? I don’t really know how to explain it but there’s a lot of it on Mylo Xyloto if you listen to it. If you like Coldplay you’ll know exactly what I mean. It’s probably not of my favourites on the album but I can appreciate it’s catchy and a very good song in general!

Birds

This one caught my attention from the very beginning even though I have yet to listen to it all the way through which is surprising because I’ve had the album since it’s been out! I think these first two songs have really set the mood of the album and the new feel Coldplay seem to be going for. I used to hate Mylo Xyloto because it was so different but now I think my musical taste might have shaped itself around Coldplay…is that possible?

Hymn For The Weekend

This is one of my favourites off the album even though it took me a good few listens to work out if Beyoncé is on it or not…I’m still not sure I must admit. However, Beyoncé or no Beyoncé this song is amazing. I remember listening to the teaser and being shocked because it’s just something I never would have expected from Coldplay I guess. However I think it’s a breath of fresh air, not that the old Coldplay stuff is bad in any way shape or form!

Everglow

I wasn’t sure about this when I first heard it because I had got so used to ‘Adventure Of A Lifetime’ and how upbeat it was that this was a bit of a shock to the system I guess. However, one time (at band camp…name that reference…or don’t. It’s up to you is what I’m saying) I was sat in my room with my fairy lights on and no other light and this came on. It was so relaxing and calming I loved it so now when I feel sad or angry and just need a bit of a calm few minutes, I stick on the lights and a bit of Coldplay and I’m right as rain in seconds.

Adventure Of A Lifetime

My Dad surprisingly liked this one. He doesn’t like Mylo Xyloto that much and so I was worried this would be the same and he’d hate it. I was ready for him to turn around and tell me he didn’t want to come to Coldplay with me anymore. Amazingly, one day he posted the video on my Facebook telling me he loved it which made me so happy! The video for this is a little bit odd but you know, it’s Coldplay we’re talking about.

Fun (feat. Tove Lo)

I have yet to really listen to this one because it didn’t grab my attention as much as the others so I found it hard to get in to it. I also had a few other new albums I was listening to and you know, I’m not that good at multitasking. I do quite like this one, it’s a sweet little melody but right now I wouldn’t class it as a favourite. I do think Tove Lo has a beautiful voice though and really makes this song. Although Chris Martin also has a beautiful voice.

Kaleidoscope

I am completely intrigued by the beginning of this one. I must admit I hadn’t listened to it before but now I am listening to it it’s so lovely! I don’t know who the man speaking is and I can’t really tell what he’s saying because my headphones are rubbish and I’m on a very noisy train but you know, I do my best. I love the music behind the speaking too, it’s so soothing! I have now just realised that it’s one of those tracks that Coldplay put in to lead on to other tracks because it’s not very long. However, it is very sweet.

Army Of One

I listened to this on the way back from Uni for the first time the other day and I completely loved it. I love the fact they’ve clipped bits of Chris’ voice and used it to make the tune! This is probably one of the best songs on the album in my opinion. The lyrics are also very touching although, I didn’t expect anything less from a song called ‘Army of One’. I will definitely be putting this on my ‘Faves’ playlist (which I’m not sure is technically my favourites anymore considering it’s nearing on 200 songs…).

Amazing Day

Another classic Coldplay here with the fading in. This makes me think of Christmas and I’m not sure why but it is December after all! It reminds me of a song that I can’t think of right now but if it comes to me I’ll get back to you on that one. Although this one is not as upbeat as some of the others it still catches my attention and I’m not sure why! Coldplay have surpassed themselves with this album.

Colour Spectrum

I remember seeing the teaser for this and there was no name underneath it, there was just a colour spectrum and it was all very confusing for me. I was like ‘Ok, so what is it actually called?’. Turns out it’s called Colour Spectrum. Surprise Surprise. This appears to be another filler kind of track although it is very lovely. It doesn’t bother me when Coldplay use filler tracks because they’re usually very lovely in themselves!

Up&Up

I don’t know how I feel about this one? I suppose it’s a fitting one to end an album with because I think Coldplay are going up and up not just in my expectations but in everyone elses too. I do like the chorus of this and it will probably grow on me but we’ll have to wait and see!
