Life Changing Music
Hello You Lovely Lot!
So, we all have our fave songs and then we all have our favourite, favourite songs. The songs that have changed your life or really made you think, not just the songs you like to dance around your room in you underwear to...just me? My Dad tagged me in something on Facebook which basically said that you had to list your favourite albums so I thought I would write a blog post about it! This is a list of a few albums or songs that have really made me stop and have had a real impact on my life!
A L B U M S
Speak Now - Taylor Swift (2010)
This will probably always be my favourite Taylor Swift album. Simply because at the time I related to most of the songs and even if I don't anymore, I can still remember how I felt at the time when they first came out. I don't think there's a song on this album that I don't love but a few of them really just changed my mindset and how I viewed the situations I was in.
Particular Favourites : Long Live, Dear John, Mean
Mylo Xyloto - Coldplay (2011)
I never used to like this album as I am sure I've said about 200 times on this blog. I just used to love all the sad Coldplay stuff and it just didn't sound like Coldplay. I think that that was because when I first started to love Coldplay I was down so happier music just wasn't my kind of thing. I don't remember when I first started listening to this but it must have been a few years after it came out. It was when I was starting to feel happier and these songs just represents so much happiness for me now. This album will always hold a special place in my heart.
Particular Favourites : Hurts Like Heaven, Charlie Brown, Don't Let It Break Your Heart
Radio:ACTIVE - McFly (2008)
I wont lie to you, by the time this had come out, McFly had gone off my radar a bit and I only knew the odd song whereas I knew every song from the first two albums! A few years ago I heard that McFly were playing a gig near me and so I bought tickets to with my friend Lucy and decided it would be best if I downloaded all the albums and made sure I knew the words. Little did I know that this album would fast become a life changer. I don't think it's really an emotional change as much as the other ones but it made me realise how much I love this type of music and not necessarily what's in the charts. McFly themselves have changed my life in so many ways, and this album is just one of those ways. Plus I will always associate 'One For The Radio' with Matt singing it to me at McBusted and 'Lies' with me being in the McFly Tour Diary!
Particular Favourites : Lies, One For The Radio, Falling In Love, POV, Smile
What's The Story Morning Glory? - Oasis (1995)
Obviously I didn't hear this when it first became because I wasn't even born. My Dad's always been a massive influence on me, particularly my music taste. When you're only little, you have to listen to what your parents put on in the car. Now, I can't specifically remember Dad putting this on but he must have played it to me at some point because I was listening to Oasis in like 2011? I remember going on a foreign Exchange and putting loads on my iPod because I loved them. This album just changed the way I think about music and has probably shaped my music taste quite a bit now since I listen to whatever I want and not what Dad puts on (some of the time). This was also a CD I took to Wales the first holiday I could drive and it's all I would listen to so I knew the album back to front by the time that holiday was over!
Particular Favourites : Wonderwall (OBVS), Some Might Say, Cast No Shadow, Morning Glory
Parachutes - Coldplay (2000)
When I wrote a blog post about my favourite albums this was number two but I think that was a more spur of the moment and an album I loved more at the time overtook it (though it was also Coldplay). This has to be my favourite album and one that most definitely changed me. This album is full of sad songs, like any typical old school Coldplay album. I loved this when I feel sad because I guess it maybe just puts things in to perspective maybe? I don't know. It's just a cracking album.
Particular Favourites : Yellow, Trouble, We Never Change, Spies
Busted - Busted (2002)
Yes, this album changed my life. My dad brought this album home when he used to review albums for a newspaper. I was only 5 at the time but Dad tells me I loved it. This album sparked my love for boybands which has not lead to 1D which I'l get to in a minute and I still listen to it now. I'm even seeing Busted (with Charlie this time) in May and I am so excited, might even cry a little bit...
Particular Favourites : Britney, All The Way, Sleeping With The Lights On, When Day Turns In To Night, Everything I Knew
Tape Deck Heart - Frank Turner (2013)
I didn't even honk about putting this on here till Dad suggested it but when I thought about it I realised it has changed my life! I got in to Frank Turner a few years ago (thanks to Dad) and this was the first album I was around for the release for. It is easily one of the best albums ever (and Franks best album) in my opinion! I don't listen to it as much as I used to but I know that when I do listen to it I'll love it. Frank Turner has also brought me a lot closer to Dad which is lovely!
Particular Favourites : Plain Sailing Weather, Tell Tale Signs, Polaroid Picture, The Fisher King Blues, Anymore, Broken Piano, We Shall Not Overcome
Spirit - Leona Lewis (2007)
This was maybe the first album I bought, how crazy is that! I forgot how much I loved it until I started this post! I don't remember two songs called 'Misses Glass' and 'Forgive Me' but I'm pretty sure they weren't on the album when I bought it! I still know most of the words to most of the songs which is weird and something I didn't think would happen. This was pretty much the soundtrack to my childhood and I still love the songs now!
Particular Favourites : Better In Time, I Will Be, Angel, Yesterday, Whatever It Takes, Take A Bow
S O N G S
Don't Forget Where You Belong - Midnight Memories - One Direction (2013)
I love the 1D boys so much and all of their music hold a special place in my heart. However, I couldn't think of a single album that has changed my life because there isn't an album where every single songs hold some kind of memory or special connection. So, I chose this single song. This is my favourite One Direction song by far and it is one that has stuck with me ever since the album came out. I've said so many nice things about this on various blog posts but, especially since I moved away, this song means so much to me. I have seen it live three times and I cried all the way through all three times...
Other Songs I Love From The Album : Happily, Right Now, Something Great, Half A Heart
The Man Who Can't Be Moved / Breakeven - The Script - The Script (2008)
Now, I did think about putting The Scripts whole first album on here because it probably did change my life. However, it's just not my favourite album of theirs and I'm not the biggest fan of every song. These two songs are absolutely incredible and will always be two songs that I love and two songs that can easily reduce me to tears. They're just classics and absolutely timeless!
Other Songs I Love From The Album : Before The Worst, Talk You Down, The End Where I Begin, Fall For Anything, If You See Kay
Fix You - X&Y - Coldplay (2005)
This song was the first Coldplay song I ever heard. It was on a Singstar game and me and Dad always used to sing it (and I used to beat him haha). Coldplay are crazy important to me and a band that has got me through quite a lot! It hasn't hit me that I'm seeing them this June, I think it will just be me sobbing for however many hours they're on. Their music is so touching and all the lyrics are amazing. Thank God I found this song because I think if I had got in to Coldplay much later I wouldn't have loved them as much as I do now!
Other Songs I Love From The Album : What If, Talk, Speed Of Sound
Lighthouse - Lighthouse (Single) - G.R.L (2015)
I remember hearing this song (or seeing the video) for the first time and bursting in to tears. I had never been a massive fan of G.R.L but this song will always be something that I love. If you don't know, G.R.L were a girlband and in 2014 Simone Battle committed suicide. This song is a tribute to her and the video is so emotional (as you can imagine). It makes me so grateful for my friends and I hope that if any of them ever felt that low, they'd know that I'm always there. If you want to watch the video you can watch it here.
Other Songs I Love By G.R.L : Ugly Heart, Vacation
The Heart Never Lies - The Heart Never Lies (EP) - McFly (2007)
This is my favourite song of all time and I don't think there will ever be a time that I will not love it. One of the reasons why it's my favourite song is because one time, a few years ago, I was front row at McFly. They played this and I was just so overwhelmed I sobbed. Dougie noticed and came over, pointed to his bum and said 'THE FART NEVER LIES' in an attempt to make me laugh but I think it made me cry more. Then during the quiet bit where it's just Tom, Harry stuck his hands in the air in a heart and looked at me till I did it too. Then at the end he came over to check I was alright and give me his towel. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT. It was an emotional night. I loved the song before then but now it's made even better by those memories.
Other Songs I Love By McFly : The Way You Make Me Feel, Bubble Wrap, Transylvania
So! Those are some of the albums and songs that have shaped my life so far! Might do another one of these in a few years and see if anything's different!
Thanks For Reading!
