May 2016 Playlist
Hello You Lovely Lot!
This months playlist is the biggest one I’ve had in a few months so without further ado…
People Help The People – Birdy – Birdy
Birdy was on some TV programme the other
week and so to try and show Dad what other songs she had I played him this one
and I was instantly hooked again. This is just such a beautiful song and it’s
incredible that a girl around my age can sing like Birdy can and sometimes I
struggle to get out of bed in the morning.
Favourite
Lyric : ‘If you’re homesick, give me your hand and I’ll hold it’
I Love Me – Thank You – Meghan Trainor
I did a whole other review on Meghan’s
album so if you want to hear what I really thought of this song you can read
that here! Just know that I love it a lot
R U Crazy/Labs Swing Version - R U Crazy/Labs Swing
Version – Conor Maynard
I love the beginning of the full version of
R U Crazy and ever since I saw it I’ve thought ‘I wish it would carry on all
jazzy like that and I’VE FOUND A VERSION THAT DOES! This is so amazing I couldn’t
stop listening to it for weeks
Favourite
Lyric : ‘Yeah, I’m with the fellas’
Hair ft Sean Paul – Hair – Little Mix
Now, I love this song and when I heard Sean
Paul was going to be on the single I wasn’t sure how to feel just because I’ve
never been the biggest fan of him but I am OBSESSED. I feel like I’m listening
to a whole new song and it’s really just brought the whole song to a whole new
level. Also the video is INSANE I love it.
Favourite
Lyric : ‘Gotta bleach him out, peroxide on him’
Cake By The Ocean – SWAAY – DNCE
I knew that Joe Jonas had a new band but I
had no idea that this was by that band! I heard it on an advert first I think
and I loved it so I found it on Spotify and for a while I just played it over
and over again. It’s your typical pop song I think, which I obviously love.
Favourite
Lyric : ‘Red Velvet, Vanilla, Chocolate in my life. Funfetti, Amoretti, I need
it every night’
She Falls Asleep / Part 2 – Wonderland – McFly
As some of you will know I’m seeing McFly
next month (although I’ve had a right fiasco with the tickets which I may or
may not write a whole new blog post about) and so I decided I needed to just
remind myself of my favourites so I can get even more excited. This is possibly
my second favourite McFly song (after ‘The Heart Never Lies’ OF COURSE). I
think it’s just so beautiful and I am so excited to hear it live, probably
gonna cry (deffo gonna cry)
Favourite
Lyric : ‘She’s hurting bad and lying very still, on the floor, by the door but
it’s lucky she was hoping that you would come back for more’
Teenage Dirtbag – Summer – Frank Hamilton &
Wheatus
As I write this, I am seeing Busted
tomorrow and last month I had the original version of Teenage Dirtbag on my
playlist but this month Spotify recommended this version. I like Frank Hamilton
anyway so when I found out he had a version of this I went crazy. It’s a lovely
slow version with like a xylophone and guitars, all very pretty.
Favourite
Lyric : ‘He lives on my block. He drives and I rock’
You’re Such A – HAIZ – Hailee Steinfeld
I think Natalie has been telling me about
Hailee for some time but it was another Spotify recommendation that lead me to
this song and instantly I loved it. I found it just before I came back to
Liverpool after Easter and I pretty much listened to it the whole train
journey. It is SO catchy and the lyrics are just so funny and clever. Still
obsessed.
Favourite
Lyric : ‘You can take your lies to your next girlfriend cause I don’t wanna
hear it anymore’
Love Myself – Love Myself – Haille Steinfeld
I found this after finding ‘You’re Such A’
and it’s the only other one that I was instantly hooked on. With music, if I
don’t like the first ten seconds I won’t bother listening anymore and this one
grabbed me. It also has the best message ever!
Favourite
Lyric : ‘I’m gonna put my body first and love me so hard till it hurts’
Mom ft Kelli Trainor – Thank You
This is another one that is on the album
review but all I’ll say here is that I love the phone call. Makes me cry every
time!
Don’t Go Alone – Don’t Go Alone – Bry
I was on YouTube one day and my YouTube was
just doing tht thing where it plays a video it thinks you’ll like next and as I
was listening to some doddleoddle this came on. I like a lot of Bry’s stuff so
I knew it was him straight away but I just think this song is SO good and my
favourite song of his ever. It’s so beautiful and I have yet to kind of work
out what it’s about (apart from the fact it’s about a guy and Bry doesn’t want
the girl to go alone, that’s all I have.
Favourite
Lyric : ‘I’ll never know if I could have saved you, if it was my place to hold
you back, hold you back, hold you back, hold you back’
Used To Love You – This Is What The Truth Feels Like –
Gwen Stefani
I heard this when I watched James Cordon
and Gwen Stefani’s Carpool Kareoke and I loved it straight away. I don’t know
what draws me to it so much but I just think it is the most beautiful song ever
and as soon as I heard it I had to try and find it on Spotify. Well done Gwen,
talk about a comeback.
Favourite
Lyric : ‘I don’t know why I cry but I think it’s cause I remember for the first
time since I hated you, that I used to love you’
Me Too – Thank You – Meghan Trainor – Thank You
Another amazing song from Meghans new
album. Definitely one of ym favourites and you can also read about it in my new
review of her album!
Go Do
– Go – Jónsi
I feel like this is such a random sing to
have in my favourites but it’s on my ‘faves’ playlist on Spotify that I was
going through one day and I found it again. I originally found it on Tyler
Oakley’s ‘Tyler Oakley Takes Over England’ video. It just makes me feel so
inspired and so positive, there’s something weird about it!
Favourite
Lyric : ‘We should always know that we can do anything’
A-Punk – Vampire Weekend – Vampire Weekend
I have never been a Vampire Weekend fan
although saying that I’ve never really listened to them. However, I guarantee
you will know this song if you like them or not. It’s one of those songs that’s
used on TV all the time. It was used in a Facebook video that I saw recently
and it took me ages to find it because it was a vide of a dog playing it (don’t
judge me it was a great video). I think it’s just such a summery song!
Favourite
Lyric : ‘But the other half’s at the bottom of the sea’
I Was Here – 4 – Beyoncé
I remembered that this song existed because
there was a thing on twitter where people were naming the best and worst songs
from certain albums and I think this is the best song from this album. It’s
possibly my favourite Beyoncé song ever too.
Favourite
Lyric : ‘That I made a difference and this world will see’
Shooting The Moon – Of The Blue Colour Of The Sky //
Extra Nice Edition – OK Go
I was on Skype to Amy when all of sudden I
ended up searching for the New Moon soundtrack and I found this. I used to have
New Moon on my laptop and it was one of the only films that I did have so I
would watch it again and again and it got to the point where I knew it nearly
word for word. I fell in love with the soundtrack and I still love it now. This
is one of the best songs on there, hence why it deserves it’s place here.
Favourite
Lyric : ‘Champagne in plastic cups’
Champagne Problems – Thank You – Meghan Trainor
Yep, you guess it. You can read my review
of the album to find out how I really feel about this song but if you want to
hear one think just know that this is such a good song!
Woman Up – Thank You – Meghan Trainor
I am obsessed with this song and yet again
you need to head over to the review! There’s no point in me talking about it in
two different blog posts is there?!
This Is What You Came For – This Is What You Came For –
Calvin Harris & Rihanna
I first heard this song because Conor
Maynard did a cover of it and I loved it. The only bit I didn’t’ like was the
rap towards the end so eventually I found this version and I have listened to
this like 100 times since then. I don’t normally go for music like this either
which makes me question why I like it but I jus think it’s incredible.
Favourite
Lyric : ‘Lightning strikes every time she moves’
Animal – Habits – Neon Trees
This is a song that I first heard when it
was on Glee and for years I never bothered to look into who it was actually by.
However, I think recently it was on an advert or something? So I found it and
it just reminds me of a few years ago when I was completely in love with it. I
still know all the words…
Favourite
Lyric : ‘Take a bite of my heart tonight’
So there you have it guys! My playlist of
songs that I have loved this month!
