August Playlist 2016
Hello You Lovely Lot!
I can't believe that it's only one month until I've been doing these playlists for a whole year! I think when it gets to next month I might go over my 2015 September playlist in comparison to 2016?
ANYWAY, let's get on with August and all the songs I've been loving this summer...
Treat You Better - Treat You Better (Single) - Shawn Mendes
I won't lie to anyone, I love Shawn Mendes and the fact that he's like around my age just baffles me. I don't listen to this song as much as I used to but right at the beginning of the month it was all I would play. I just think it's so sweet and also so catchy and I really ought to listen to more of his music because I think he's incredible!
Favourite Lyric : 'Any girl like you deserves a gentleman'
Don't Mind - Don't Mind (Single) - Kent Jones
I first heard this song on all those musicallys, or whatever they're called, that all the kids are doing nowadays (I sound like a grandma, fantastic) and I thought it was catchy and then eventually I found it on Spotify. To be honest, we all know it's not the best song but it is juts so catchy that you can't help but dance to it...
Favourite Lyric : 'She said 'Pardon my French'. I said 'Bonjour Madame'
Dumb - Straight Outta Oz - Todrick Hall
I didn't like this song when I first heard it and I just played my few faves off this album. I sat down and listened to the whole thing one day and this one is so good and possibly one of my favourites now. When you really listen to the lyrics it's so clever and I just applaud Todrick so much.
Favourite Lyric : 'Ones with the worst talent are the worst payed anyway'
'Be the leading man if I was less gay? If I was a woman would you try to give me less pay?'
'The proof is right there though, it's not fair though, but they swear 'no, what does he know? He's just a Scarecrow'
'Tweedledum is what they call it if you ask Alice'
Dancing On My Own - Dancing On My Own (Single) - Calum Scott
The first time I heard this was on the radio and it literally made me cry. I welled up with tears. I just think that this is so beautiful. Then I found the stripped down version where it was just a piano and Calum and I cried even more. Such a beautiful rendition of Robyns song, tears all the time.
Favourite Lyric : 'Stilettos and broken bottles. I'm spinning around in circles'
Dry Your Eyes - A Grand Don't Come For Free - The Streets
We all remember this tune, right?! What an absolute classic. I found it again when I listened to Zoella's 'GOLDEN OLDIES' playlist (which I would totally recommend). I used to love this song so much when it was first released and I still love it as much now. I only know the chorus but you know, I'm getting there.
Favourite Lyric : 'It weren't supposed to be easy, surely'
Too Good - Views - Drake ft Rihanna
I don't like Drake. I never really have done. BUT THIS SONG. I remember hearing it in the kitchen at work and just being like 'ok yeah I don't mind this'. So I searched it when I got home and listened to it over and over again for weeks. When it came on when I was out with Natalie we went crazy. So I will give it to Drake, this is a good song.
Favourite Lyric : 'And I hope you can take it, I hope you can take it'
Good Grief - Good Grief (Single) - Bastille
I must admit that I've liked this for a few months but I've only listened to it when it's come on the radio. This month was the month I finally pulled it together and searched for it on Spotify. I've always liked Bastille even though I don't know every song. I remember them playing 'Pompeii' at our prom (cringe) but it always makes me happy. This one is just as catchy as the others and I can't wait for the album!
Favourite Lyric : 'So get drunk, call me a fool, put me in my place'
Girls Like - (Girls Like Single) - Tinie Tempah ft Zara Larsson
I feel like this is mine and Natalie's song. She introduced it to me and now I'm in love. I remember it coming on when we were on our night out and she knew like all the words and I didn't know any so I made it my mission to listen to it the next day and I've been in love ever since. I feel like Tinie Tempah is someone I will always like because he released so many songs that were like the soundtrack to my childhood. Is that normal?
Favourite Lyric : 'What's the code to your WiFi again?'
Into You - Dangerous Woman - Ariana Grande
I've never really been a big Ariana Grande fan either to be honest but I LOVE this one. I kind of avoided it to begin with but not on purpose. I saw loads of covers of it and I just wouldn't watch them because I was like 'I don't even like Ariana Grande'. I can't remember when I first started to think 'yeah this is actually quite good!' but I know that I'm glad that I did have that epiphany!
Favourite Lyric : 'Tell me what you came here for cause I can't, I can't wait no more'
This Is My Version - Covers - Conor Maynard
I don't even try to hide it any more, I love Conor Maynard. As much as I love all his covers, his original songs are still my favourite and this is no exception. I think he has such a beautiful voice and this song is just as beautiful. I love the fact that it's more slow when usually he does faster ones. Just a massive yes from me basically.
Favourite Lyrics : 'I don't wanna feel like this anymore, this is my version of heartbreak'
Black Horse and the Cherry Tree - Eye To the Telescope - KT Tunstall
A few weeks ago I was creating a throwback playlist and I found this when Iw as sifting through all the songs I used to love. I don't know many KT Tunstall songs but this is always a classic and one that everyone knows, even if they don't know the words. I think that this will always be one of my favourite songs. Dad likes to show me a video of her performing it and using a loop pedal all the time, he thinks it's the best thing ever, I mean she is great, but there's only so many times you can watch a video
So there you have it everyone! All the songs that I loved last month!
Thanks For Reading!
