REVIEW : 'Eleanor And Park' by Rainbow Rowell
Hello you lovely lot!
So if you're a regular reader you'll know I took quite a few books on holiday with me! Truth is I only managed to finish one and a bit. However, I literally JUST finished the second one! So, I thought I'd do a quick little review as I did with Girl Online, seems only fair to me! If I hadn't finished this come the end of September I knew that I was going to take it with me to University but now I don't have to!
Eleanor And Park - Rainbow Rowell
I tried to read 'Fangirl' a while ago but I have to say I was quite disappointed so I didn't really have high hopes for this book I must admit. I am so pleased to say that I have been proved wrong. I think it was Natalie that first introduced me to this book and I'm so glad she did! It might now even be one of my favourite books?!
When I first started and saw that it kept switching between Eleanor's P.O.V and Parks I had a little sigh. I'm not a big fan of books like this because I tend to get confused by it all but I powered through! I found this book so easy to read which really made it a lovely holiday book even though it did take me a bit to get in to it, but I think that can be said of every book. It was written in such a lovely way and was so easy to get and understand, great for someone with the attention span of 3 seconds like me.
I'm a HUGE fan of plot twists and I can honestly say, I let out a physical gasp when I got towards the end so if you're a sucker for stuff like that, give it a go. I like to think I'm good at working out what's going to happen in books and I also have a habit of skipping to the last page and reading it but I did neither of these things with this book.
I also don't tend to be one for romance books (even though 'The Fault In Our Star' is possibly my favourite book ever) and I thought this would be straight romance but it isn't, it deals with so much more! Stuff like bullying and abuse which is totally not what I expected but I'm glad these issues were in there!
I'm glad the blurb gives literally no clues as to what happens in the book because sometimes reading the blurb basically means you've read the book and where's the fun in that? The blurb on this book just tells you about the character!
One thing I can say is that I don't really have clear pictures of either character in my head when normally I find it so easy to imagine them? I think this could be a good thing because it leaves a bit of mystery and also, if this were ever to be made in to a film, I wouldn't be disappointed when the characters didn't look the way they did in my head!
So yes, such a lovely book that even got a few tears from me at the end! I'm not sure what I'm reading next but there will definitely be a review up as soon as I've finished it (which could be a week or a month since I move to University next week.)
Thanks For Reading!
