TOP TEN : Christmas Songs (Blogmas Day Fifteen)

by - 09:00

Hello you lovely lot!

It's now single figures until it's Christmas! How exciting is that?! I wont lie I've been listening to Christmas music since last month but around now is the kind of time you can listen to it without feeling judged. I like to think I know a good Christmas song when I hear one so I thought it would be a good idea to make this list! I have also finished my essay you'll be glad to know, so I can listen to all the Christmas music I like and not feel guilty! I am only counting songs that are really related to Christmas, not just ones that were released in December. Otherwise we would be here a long time..

10. Last Christmas - Wham!

I think this had to be on here right? Although I think that's the case with most of these songs! I sang this in choir with school once so I still know all the words. I like the fact it's not all happy and positive, it's a bit depressing if you really listen to it!

Favourite Lyric : I wrapped it up and sent it with a note saying 'I love you', I meant it

9. I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday - Wizzard

Bit of a more cheerful song now. I really relate with this song because I do wish it could be Christmas every day. Although, maybe it would get a little boring, but you would get presents every day. I think it's a no brainer. Can we at least have it twice a year? Please?

Favourite Lyric: When the kids start singing and the band begins to plaaaaaayy

8. Merry Christmas Everybody - Slade

As soon as I hear the first line of this song I feel super festive. It is possibly the classic Christmas song but it's not my favourite as amazing as it it! This is one of those ones they play at parties because you can dance around to it no end which is what I need in a good Christmas song.

Favourite Lyric : Does he ride a red nose reindeer?

7. Christmas (Baby Please Come Home - Michael Bublé)

I've only just started to like this thanks to Zoella and Tanya Burr because they sing it a lot in their Christmas videos! I only just realised that it's not even his song originally but I do prefer his version. I just want to know why Michael only comes out at Christmas...

Favourite Lyric : CHRISTMASSSS, the snows coming down, CHRISTMASSSSS, I'm watching it fall

6. Santa Tell Me - Ariana Grande

I loved this song so much when it came out and I listened to it all Christmas. I rediscovered it when I was home about two weeks ago on the bus on my own. I am so glad I listened to it again because I'm now obsessed with it all over again!

Favourite : On the 25th by the fireplace oooooh

5. All I Want For Christmas Is You - Mariah Carey

Another classic Christmas song! I think this is definitely one of the best ones and one most people know the words too. I obviously don't try and sing this like I'm Mariah or anything...(doesn't everyone do that?!)

Favourite Lyric : Ieeeeeeiii...don't want a lot for Christmas

4. Christmas Time (Don't Let The Bells End) - The Darkness

This is such an amazing song. I think it's quite different to normal Christmas songs since it's so rocky. I love The Darkness anyway so the fact that I can also listen to them being festive is a massive bonus for me!

Favourite Lyric : Don't let the bells end, Christmas time, just let them ring in peace

3. Do They Know It's Christmas? - Band Aid 20

I used to think this was my favourite Christmas song however when I sat down and actually thought about it, it was only third! I have watched the Gavin and Stacey Christmas special so many times that I know the bits that Smithy sings in this song...is that sad? I can say all his lines, it is sad isn't it.

Favourite Lyric : Well tonight, thank god it's them, instead of you

2. Christmas Lights - Coldplay

This is such a sad Christmas song but I love it anyway! I listen to this when it's not a Christmas just as much as I listen to it at this time of year. I love the way the melody changes in the middle too! Not a classic Christmas song, most people probably don't even know it, but it's my second favourite.

Favourite Lyric : When you're still waiting for the snow to fall, it doesn't really feel like Christmas at all

1. Happy Xmas (War Is Over) - John Lennon

I've always loved this song and I think it's such a good message! Plus I feel like I can't really let John down, living in Liverpool and all. I don't really like Yoko Ono, don't ask me why, I don't know why. However this song is too amazing to let her ruin it!

Favourite Lyric : War is over, if you want it

There you have it. Some festive tunes to get you in the mood if you aren't already. If you aren't already in the mood, lighten up Scrooge.

Thanks For Reading!
