January 2016 Playlist
Hello You Lovely Lot!
It's nearing the end of January which is ridiculous. This month has been important since I turned 19 so here's all the music I listened to as I realise I'll be 20 next year...
The Girl Is Mine featuring Destiny's Child & Brandy - (Single) - 99 Souls
I actually heard this for the first time maybe two months ago but I've been obsessed with it ever since. I love the song 'The Boy Is Mine' but I must admit I've only heard the Destiny's Child song one or two times. I don't tend to like this kind of stuff because we all know I'm a One Direction kind of girl but you know, once in a while, I do leave my bed and stop watching 'McFly Funny Moments'..
Favourite Lyric : 'Excuse me can I please talk to you for a minute?'
Stevie Knows - Never Been Better (Special Edition) - Olly Murs
I kind of get this song but kind of don't. I obviously know it's about Stevie Wonder and a play on his last name but like...what does he know? PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME OLLY (I just listened to it and heard the line 'he knows what we're doing when his record's on'...so I get it now.) This is on a CD I got for Christmas and I am obsessed. I love Olly Murs' sound and I like to pretend he's a guilty pleasure but I'm proud to love him in all honesty. I've even spoken to him you know...one of the highlights of my life.
Favourite Lyric : 'As soon as you come in this house, I'm gonna take you to higher ground'
Army - Delirium - Ellie Goulding
Now, I don't mind Ellie. I think with her I'm kind of love hate, if I like something I am obsessed with it for ages or I'll never listen to it more than once. This is one of the ones I love and I have yet to listen to the album as of yet. There might be a review coming soon, you never know!
Favourite Lyric : 'When I'm with you, I'm standing with an army'
Lovestruck - Meet The Vamps - The Vamps
This is quite old now, it'll be two years old this year. However, I was just on my favourites playlist shuffling through and it came on. I think it's one of the best songs on the whole album and I don't think I'll ever get bored of it.
Favourite Lyric : 'I'd wait all day, just for a maybe'
Hands To Myself - Revival - Selena Gomez
I loved this towards the end of last month but it's kind of carried on to this month. I STILL haven't listened to the rest of the album (I know, my life is a shambles). However, this song and a few others have made it on to my January Playlist!
Favourite Lyric : 'I mean I could, but why would I want to?'
Youth - If You Leave - Daughter
I am so in love with this song. I first heard it when doddleoddle did a cover of it with her friend Andie and it wasn't until this month that I actually searched for the original. I am so glad I did because this has probably been my favourite song of the month. My mission next to month is to listen to the rest of their music, because if it's anything like this...I know I will love it.
Favourite Lyric : 'To keep our hearts from forever missing them, but I'm forever missing him'
Focus - Focus (Single) - Ariana Grande
I am aware that this came out a while ago and I used to like it in moderation although I didn't like the bit with the guy talking for some reason. Now, however, I am obsessed. I just think it's so catchy! I don't even mind the shouting man anymore.
Favourite Lyric : 'I know what I came to do and that aint gonna change'
Stitches - Handwritten - Shawn Mendes
I've never really listened Shawn Mendes and I've only just heard this song really so I'm not sure when it first came out or anything. I just think this is so lovely and it's not the kind of songs I usually go for in some ways. Definitely going to be giving Shawn Mendes a listen this year!
Favourite Lyric : 'If I quit calling you my lover, move on'
WILD - Blue Neighbourhood - Troye Sivan
I loved Troyes first EP but for some reason I never got round to listening to this even though I was so excited for it to be released! This is the first one I've had the chance to listen to although I remember watching a video for one of them which I now can't remember the name of, typical. I love the beginning of this with the kids, thats what drew it to me in the first place, not even Troye...can I say that?
Favourite Lyric : 'Leave this blue neighbourhood'
Never Forget You - Never Forget You (Single) - MNEK & Zara Larsson
I first heard this at the first One Direction OTRA date I went to. They played the video and me and the boy I was sitting next to were like 'what on earth is this?!'. I didn't really like it then and I'm not sure whether the reason I love it so much is because it reminds me of the concert and the guy I met...but oh well!
Favourite Lyric : 'I used to be so happy but without you here I feel so low'
Are You Gonna Be My Girl - Get Born - Jet
Favourite Lyric : '1,2,3, take my hand and come with me because you look so fine and I really wanna make you mine'
Grown - Get Weird - Little Mix
This is now, without a doubt, my favourite song of Little Mix's album. I've loved this one ever since the album came out a few months ago and I still love it now. It's just such a good song to listen to when you feel down (especially about lads). Makes me feel much more optimistic about things!
Favourite Lyric : 'It's funny how the tables turn'
Drops Of Jupiter - Drops Of Jupiter - Train
This is a classic song that people have compared to one of One Directions new songs. Obviously I knew it before that comparison. Pretty sure this is one of my favourite songs of all time. It has beautiful chords, singing and lyrics.
Favourite Lyric : 'Your best friend always sticking up for you, even when I know you're wrong'
Fix You - X&Y - Coldplay
This is one of my favourite songs ever. I always say 'The Heart Never Lies' is my favourite song ever but this isn't too far behind nowadays. I just think it's one of the most beautiful songs to ever exist from the lyrics to the chords to the guitar bit. If you don't like Coldplay then that's ok but if you don't like this then there's something wrong with you.
Favourite Lyric : 'Tears stream down your face when you lose something you cannot replace'
Heroes - Heroes - David Bowie
This month is of course the month we lost the legend that is David Bowie. Dad's always played me Bowie's music and I have always looked up to him. I was also shown Labyrinth when I was in primary school at an after school club. I loved it then I didn't see it for years and years. In secondary school I had a dream about it then my art teacher played it the next day. Scary stuff. It's now my favourite film of all time. This is maybe my favourite Bowie song and it's also on another of my favourite films 'Moulin Rouge'
Favourite Lyric : 'Though nothing will keep us together'
Stop And Stare - Dreaming Out Loud - OneRepublic
I heard this when I was listening to a pop playlist on Skype to Amy. I forgot how good this was! This month I've just got really into songs that I used to love back in the day. If you haven't heard this ever or in a while, listen to it again.
Favourite Lyric : 'Can you see what I see?'
Under Pressure ft David Bowie - Hot Space - Queen
Once again, Dad used to play this when I was little and me and my brother still know all the words, even Freddies little bits. We always listen to this when we're on holiday for some reason. Not only do I love the song but I love the message behind it too.
Favourite Lyric : 'Love's such an old fashioned word, and love dares you to care for the people on the people on the edge of the night, and love dares you to change out way of caring about ourselves. This is our last dance. This is our last dance. This is ourselves. Under pressure'
Last Nite - Is This It - The Strokes
I heard this when I was watching an old episode of 'Big Fat Quiz Of The Year' and I instantly recognised it! I've never really sat and listened to it but I think it's one that everyone knows, even if you don't know that you know it.
Favourite Lyric : 'Well I've been in town for just about fifteen minutes now'
Same Old Love - Revival - Selena Gomez
I didn't really used to like this one at first but the more I listen to it the more I fall in love! It's not really my typical type of music either but for some reason it got through to me! It's so catchy and have a feeling it will be stuck in my head for a long time!
Favourite Lyric : 'That shit, it tears me up'
So that's what I've been listening to for the past month! It's a big longer than my playlists usually are for some reason!
Thanks For Reading!
